Director Heath Slee

East Kootenay Regional District

Heath Slee became the 2011 - 2012 UBCM President at the Annual Convention in Vancouver, BC on Friday, September 30. Director Slee's political career began in 1999, when he was first elected as a Director in the Regional District of East Kootenay. He is now serving his twelfth year in Local Government.
 
In 2003, Director Slee was elected to the board of the Association of Kootenay and Boundary Local Governments (AKBLG), which represents the RDEK, RDCK, and RDKB. In 2008-2009, as President of AKBLG, Director Slee was the representative on the UBCM Executive.  He has also served on the board of the Municipal Insurance Association of B.C. for three years as the AKBLG representative.
 
During the four years that Director Slee has been a member of the UBCM Executive, he has served on the following committees: Environment, Community Economic Development, Community Safety, Resolutions, Healthy Communities, Presidents Committee and the Convention Committee.   He also travelled to the 2010 - 2011 FCM board meetings, in his role as First Vice-President.
